Why Create at Magnolia Mosaic?
Artist-led instruction
Magnolia Mosaic is owned and taught by Aleksandra Nadbitova, a professional mosaic artist and instructor. She has been creating mosaic art since 2008 and has been teaching art and mosaic since 2010, working with beginners as well as students with previous art experience, including adults and children.
Her approach is hands-on and instructional: you aren't simply given materials and left to figure out what to do. You'll be guided through the techniques needed for your particular project while having room to develop your own ideas and artistic choices.
A studio built around making
Magnolia Mosaic is a dedicated studio in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, giving students a place to slow down, work with their hands, and concentrate on the creative process.
The studio has space for up to 12 people, allowing classes and workshops to remain personal rather than feeling like a large, impersonal activity.
A Finished Piece You Can Take Home
Every project gives you something tangible to take away.
Depending on the class, you might leave with a piece of home décor, a useful household object, wearable art, a garden feature, a portrait, or a larger statement piece.
That makes the experience about both learning mosaic techniques and making something meaningful.
Classes for different interests and skill levels
There isn't just one way to learn mosaic.
You can start with a two-hour coaster or candle holder, explore a natural-material project such as slate stone mosaic, create a personalized pet portrait, or commit to a multi-session mosaic project such as the Marble Mosaic Workshop, Mosaic Side Table Workshop, or 5-Week Mosaic Project Class.
That range makes it possible to choose a class based on your interests, available time, and desired finished piece.
Know What's Included
For classes where the stated price includes materials and Seattle sales tax, you know what is covered before you book.
Current class prices range from $39 for a Mosaic Coaster to $395 for the 5-Week Mosaic Project Class, with several projects between those price points.
The difference in price reflects the project itself, the amount of studio time, the materials involved, and the number of sessions.
Learn Mosaic Art in a Real Working Studio
Mosaic making is more than putting pieces of tile together. The direction of each piece, the spacing, color, texture, materials, and overall composition all change the way a finished mosaic looks.
At Magnolia Mosaic, classes are designed around that hands-on process.
You’ll learn how to work with materials, plan a composition, cut and place tile or glass, use adhesives and grout, and make decisions that turn individual pieces into a cohesive mosaic.
Each project gives you the opportunity to create something of your own while learning the skills behind mosaic art.
More Than a Mosaic Class: Make Something Personal
A mosaic can be decorative, practical, sentimental, or all three.
You might create a house number for your front entrance, a serving tray for your home, a stepping stone for your garden, a portrait of a beloved pet, or a pendant you can wear.
You can also incorporate personal materials into selected projects. For example, the Slate Stone Mosaic class allows students to bring meaningful pieces such as beach glass, a smooth stone, or driftwood to work into their design.
That's part of what makes mosaic making so rewarding: the finished object can carry a connection to the person who made it.

What Students Say
“I have taken a few different classes with Aleksandra and have loved each one - (picture frame, side table, votive, mirror - just to name a few) She is very knowledgeable in Mosaic and loves teaching others. Aleksandra is patient and excellent in guiding you through your project, especially if it's your first time and you're not sure where to start - she is great with color and helping you choose or narrow down your choices so you end up with a finished product you will love. I am so happy that I took that first class with Aleksandra and I cannot recommend her enough!!”
— Christine Warren
“I found out about Magnolia Mosaic from a friend of mine who wanted to learn various mosaic styles. I tagged along not knowing anything and not researching much ahead of the class. We took the stepping stones class where we each, there were 6 participants, decorated a round stone with the help from Aleksandra. Love how helpful she is, but never pushy. She constantly gave us feedback and options if we were stuck on the color choice or shape of the piece, guiding us at every step. Everyone’s stone was completely different and every participant seemed to really enjoy the process. I’m definitely going back for more classes. Aleksandra has so much knowledge about the various types of mosaic and I love that she opened this hands-on mosaic studio in Seattle. Also, there are plenty of parking spots right in front of the studio, no need to stress about parking for 3+ hours at a time.”
— Anna Hoychuk
“I took the Stepping Stone Mosaic class, and it was a wonderful hands-on experience! Aleksandra made everything easy to understand by guiding us step-by-step with great patience. My final stepping stone turned out beautifully, and I'm really proud of how it looks. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in trying mosaic art for the first time!”
